I'm Melissa Hobbs, a commercial photographer based in Melbourne. I've been photographing for businesses and events since 2008, and I also travel to photograph events.

I photograph conferences, workshops, trade shows, gala dinners, red carpet arrivals, networking events and team-building events. I also take corporate headshots, portraits and product photos. I work with a team of other photographers.

I'm known for my storytelling style. I look for the important and fun parts of an event that people want to remember. Time goes by so fast, so I think it's important to capture the fun bits.

From 2011 I photographed for Business Chicks in Melbourne. That included high-profile corporate events, breakfasts, workshops and networking events, as well as their magazine, Latte. Along the way I've had the pleasure of photographing Arianna Huffington, Seth Godin, Julia Gillard, Michelle Bridges, Rachel Zoe, Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver, Kate Hudson and many more.

I've also covered movie premieres, Miss Universe Australia, Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival and the Logies. I've photographed brides, parents and children too, plus press conferences for Katy Perry and Sarah Jessica Parker.

In 2011 I held my first solo exhibition, a collection of photos I took in New York City. It went so well that I was asked to exhibit the photographs again in 2012 and 2013.

My work has been published in books, newspapers, postcards, magazines and calendars. You'll also find it on a number of websites.

I'm married and Mum to two young men.

A little unknown piece of info, when I studied at Photography Studies College, I received an award for academic excellence. I’m currently studying Training and Assessment at RMIT.

One of my favourite photographers, Paul Strand, believed that "your photography is a record of your living". I feel privileged to record moments in people's lives that they will never experience again.
