9 measures to ensure a safe photography shoot during Omicron

2022 hasn’t started out how any of us wanted it to, with high numbers of Covid cases infiltrating every state and territory of Australia. Here in Melbourne we have seen record cases on the daily and most people now know someone who has had Covid. It has effected businesses as well, most have had staff shortages with people off sick and once again events have been cancelled due to the risk involved with having lots of people in the one place. Melissa Hobbs Business Photography has not been immune from this with many booked events cancelled or postponed in the last week for the next few months.

But we are still getting enquiries to do one-on-one or small group head shot photos. And here are some of the measures we’ve taken to make it safe:

Head shot photos outside
  1. I will come to you so you don’t need to leave your house/office. I have all the lighting and photography equipment to set up a place in your house/office to take your photo. Photographs can be taken inside or outside and I have a black or white background as well if you want that studio look. I can set up and pack down my equipment without anyone nearby so as to not cross paths.

  2. I will be on my own during the shoot (I won’t have an assistant during this time)

  3. I wear an N95 face mask throughout the shoot so as to reduce the changes of passing anything on. I recommend you wear a face mask too except for when being photographed.

  4. I will do a Rapid Antigen Test before each shoot so as to confirm (as best as I can) that I am not Covid Positive.

  5. I use hand sanitiser through-out the shoot to reduce the spread of any germs

  6. head shot photos can be taken outside with open ventilation or inside with doors and windows open.

  7. Where possible I will socially distance 1.5m. I have a long lens which allows me to photograph from a distance and I don’t need to come close when photographing.

  8. I have had 2 Covid vaccines and a booster (2.1.2022)

  9. If either you or I come down with Covid before the shoot, we can reschedule at a time that is suitable for both parties. I will inform you immediately so as to keep us all safe and plans can be made to change the date.
